Aims, contents and method of the course

An overview of the grammar of standard literary Welsh, an introduction to the spoken Welsh of South Wales and to key elements of the culture and history of Wales.
To provide a firm basis of knowledge of the grammar of standard written Welsh for reading purposes, to enable students to communicate with confidence in simple everyday situations, and to become familiar with some key aspects of the culture and history of Wales.
Lectures, with audio-visual support, and some interactive work.

Examination topics

Final written and oral test at the end of the semester. Formative written and oral tests during the semester.
