Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The second part of this lecture (continuation from the winter term) ist meant to provide an overview of the development of linguistic theory and practice in the Twentieth Century. Special regard will be paid to the interdisciplinary relationship of linguistics with other fields. The general background of linguistic study in terms of cultural and epistemic paradigms will be amply illuminated. Special topics can be dwelt on in depth upon request. Students are expected to go into the history of ideas and cope with classical texts.

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam (written or oral).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Imparting detailed knowledge of the historical development of linguistic theories.
Imparting considerate understanding of interdisciplinary relations among linguistics and related fields.
Working on an overall conception of linguistics across its branches.

Examination topics

Oral presentation, enhanced with multimedial equipment (data projector, e-learning platform "Fronter")
