Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course provides an overview over the most relevant approaches to linguistic pragmatics: presuppositions, speech act theory, Gricean pragmatics, relevance theory, and politeness theory.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course aims at showing the historical development of linguistic pragmatics as well as at making clear the differences and correspondences of the different approaches with regard to the central pragmatic issue of ¿language as action¿.
