Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is devoted to a few chosen analyses of PRO and Control embedded within the generative frameworks.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Our goal is to find out by way of comparison, which of the proposed analyses is to be preferred on empirical grounds.

Examination topics

During the classes we will read and discuss a number of articles connected to the nature of PRO and Control in its various guises (OC vs. NOC, EC vs. PC). In particular, we shall concentrate on the discussions that arose around Norbert Hornstein's (1999) proposal taking Control to be a species of movement.
