Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This circle lecture will confront us with some troubling questions:
Are bodies not awake when our consciousness sleeps? Does a body know what he is doing while we sleep? What does knowing mean in this case? He knows how to do something, but without knowing what s/he is doing in deed? What does body mean in this context? What does doing mean in this context? What does it mean that bodies are able to do things, which they can, but have no knowledge from? Do we know, what a body can without already recurring on a body when we ask this question?
How should we think a deed that is performed without a subject that recognizes what is performed in deed? Happenings like IT rains; IT lightens; I am given to myself; the sun shines. Events which overrule our selves and thus disregard our own ways of acting intentionally and recognizing them.

Assessment and permitted materials

At the end of the semester, there will be a written examination. The exact date will be announced at the beginning of January.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Analysis of the latest problems of a philosophy of (lived-)bodies in respect to their subconscious forms of "acting".

Examination topics

Leading philosophers will present their lectures on the troubling problems which occur in the prrocess of conceptualizing a philosophy of unconcious actions performed by a body without reflecting them consciously.

Reading list

The text of the invited lecturers will be published on Moodle with a list of the literature most relevant for their thesis.
