Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The practical course "Techniques of Scholarly/Scientific Work" focuses on mediating a basic competence in scholarly work, especially research for information for the different fields of theatre, film and media studies. In addition to the different aspects of the information world (search strategies, bibliographic ovierview, major institutions, document organization) the critical evaluation and the management of the documents found plays a key role. Furthermore rules for citation and and the correct style of foot- and endnotes are discussed. The students will practice the skills acquired in the course on the basis of 2 general topics. The aim of the couse is a first approach to assemble information material as a basis of a scholarly text.
Assessment and permitted materials
Kontinuierliche Mitarbeit, Zwischenübungen, Erstellen einer Abschlussarbeit mit annotierter Bibliografie, schriftliche Klausur
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Basic competence in scholarly work, especially research for information, information and document management, correct quoting and styles for footnotes and endnotes. The aim of the couse is a first approach to assemble information material as a basis of a scholarly text.
Examination topics
Erarbeiten einer wissenschaftlichen Fragestellung aus einem Themenkomplex, Informationssuche, Analyse der eigenen Suchstrategien, Interpretieren und Evaluieren von Information und Literatur, Informationsverwaltung und -wiedergabe.
