Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Conny Hannes Meyer, who is born in1931 in Vienna, became already very important in fifties and sixties as Theatre founder, head of Theatre and writer for Vienna's "Underground Theatre's scene/landscape" ("Underground Theatre"= Off Theatre).
Underground Theatre arose in Austria just after Second World War as young actors/actresses, without any aspects of finding engagements on greater stages and unsatisfied with the conventional creative plans for playing in those Theatres with little financial subvention, created their own Theatre forums.
For many actors/actresses, Theatre directors and stage designers of after the war generation bid this "Underground Theatre" their very first platform of their artistical unfolding. (from Austrian lexicon "aeiou" - www.aeiou.at/).
In 1955 became Conny Hannes Meyer fellow founder of the "Experiment am Liechtenwerd".
He founded in 1958 "Die Komödianten" ("The Comedians"), who played from 1963 permanently in "Theater am Börseplatz" and from 1974 till 1985 in "Theater im Künstlerhaus".
"Die Komödianten" in Künstlerhaus-Theatre like many other "Underground Theatre" became the same status like; "being/financed in/by public hand/subvention".
As director and dramatizer created Conny Hannes Meyer with his "Komödianten" accordingly with his staff, formal as well as contently respectably stagings such as; Bert Brecht works and realisation of a valid prototype playing plan. Short representation of the way of splitting with the "Komödianten" will also followed. (These are the "Theatermanufaktur" am Halleschen Ufer in Berlin and "Gruppe 80" in Vienna).
