Anwesenheitspflicht in der ersten Einheit: Studierende, die der ersten Einheit unentschuldigt fern bleiben, verlieren ihren Platz in der Lehrveranstaltung. Studierende von der Warteliste können nachrücken.

Plagiate: Prüfungsleistungen und Prüfungszugänge, die durch das Verwenden unerlaubter Hilfsmittel oder durch absichtsvolles Plagiieren erlangt werden, werden laut Satzung der Universität Wien (§13, §74) nicht beurteilt, sondern im Sammelzeugnis untilgbar mit (X) bewertet. Dies ist auch nach bereits erfolgter Benotung rückwirkend möglich, wenn sich der Tatbestand des Plagiats erst im Nachhinein erweisen sollte. Als Plagiat gilt die absichtsvolle und undeklarierte Übernahme von fremdem geistigen Eigentum ohne Angabe der Quelle; der Begriff des Plagiats umfasst dabei wörtliche Zitate ebenso wie übersetzte Übernahmen und Paraphrasen.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Goals
Ability to independently handle theatre theories in an academic context, academic sensibility regarding the term „theatre theory“, ability to describe, analyze and connect cultural performances in relation to theatre theory/ies.
Content
Theatre Theory/ies
(an overview of central concepts of theatre theory, including questions of applied theory: what is theatre theory? What can be done with and deduced through theatre theory? How and why is theatre theory a useful tool within the tfm degree?)
Methods
Reading, debate, analysis and theorizing of examples, reflection, group tasks.

Assessment and permitted materials

Class Exam
There are 3 different exam parts in 2 different exam sections (written/oral):

Written:
• 1 class paper (ca. 10 pages) => 30%
• 3 reading cards (with date options), 2000 characters each => 30%

Oral:
• smaller oral presentations (moderate a debate, Roulette Presentations, short summary results of group tasks)
• work within the class: attendance, participation in debate and analysis, participation in group tasks, participation in peer feedback
(40% of total mark)

If you have a condition that adversely affects these exams (dyslexia, phobias), please contact the teacher to discuss the possibility of an alternative exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

All three exam sections need to be passed to obtain a positive mark (=a minimum of a 4 in each section) and pass the class.
You will be required to read both English and German texts and debate them.
Attendance is mandatary, you may not miss more than 3 classes (with giving prior notice).
