Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Along with the slowly fading euphoria of early, digitally-networked years, a discoursive counter-movement set in which can be loosely summarized by the term 'postdigitality'. Similar to the way that postmodernism overcame modernity, but was still marked by it, postdigitality can be described as an arrival in everyday life: Some of the theoretical excesses of the beginning appeared obsolete, in other places the relationship of analog and digital appear not to be an opposition, but a mutual relationship, as Rasmus Fleischer put it in this Postdigital Manifesto (2009): "Cultural phenomena exist in perpetual circulation between digital and analog, between universal access and temporary localisation. This is the point of departure of the postdigital perspective. " Beginning with a look back at digital theory building (Till Heilmann, Die Frage nach dem Digitalen, 2012) we will work our way through available positions on postdigitality and will then try to apply these to current phenomena.
