Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

"sex, performance, politics" adresses social political attitudes towards sexuality, using actual stage performance works as examples. Which explicit and implicit concepts shape theses works? Which social political discourses and debates are linked with these concepts? How do fears, border violations, provocation and free expression behave towards outrage and scandal? What about normativity and freedom? Might the sexual topoi on stage represent other negotiatons? The aim is to discover in how far the analysis of artistic strategies and its public responses are suitable to show dominant attitudes towards the sexual.
