Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
"sex, performance, politics" adresses social political attitudes towards sexuality, exemplarily reffering to current performance work. Which explicit and implicit concepts in respect to sexuality shape these works? Which social political discourses and debates are linked with theses concepts? In which proportion are fear, border violations, provocation and free expression, outrage and scandal to each other? What about normativity and freedom? Could it be that sexual topoi on stage represent other social negotioations? The goal of the course is to see, in how far an analysis of artistic strategies and public response can be appropriate to get a picture of social dominant attitudes towards the sexual.
