Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to the basic concepts and terms of narratology. At the beginning, basic questions of tellabiity, affinity, and transposability are addressed. In the next step, the plot/story or fable/subject dialectic will be examined in the sense of a " Umschlagen " (Hegel). Among the archetypes, Threshold Guardian, Shapeshifter, and Shadow are examined in greater detail. Among the stations, the resurrection of the hero (also in the post-heroic age) is in the main focus. Absentation and Interdiction were chosen among Propp's functions. The last task is about the concept of focalization with special attention to "mindscreen" scenes.
