During this course, aspects of film music will be examined in the context of other cinematic elements, such as sound in general, dialogue, and camera work, in order to develop a theoretical vocabulary.
Assessment and permitted materials
abstract, written examination
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Perception of film music as a narrative tool. Development of an individual methodology, according to literature between Theodor W. Adorno and Michel Chion.
Examination topics
Discussion of selected examples, alternately viewed from the perspectives of film studies, media studies, musicology, or narrative theory.
