Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Survey of European theatre history, scenography, important authors and their dramas, perofrmances and theoretical concepts beginning with ancient Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages, Renaissance ind Spain, Englang, Italy, the age of enlightenment, "Weimarer Klassik", the 19th century, naturalism, psychological realism, theatrical changes at the turn of the 19th century, Russian constructivism, theatre and politics in the early 20th century, Brecht, the absurd theatre, performance art, postmodern and postdramatic theatre, digital performance.
Assessment and permitted materials
MC-test at the end of the lecture and three further dates of tests during the winter semester 2014/15
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Survey of the most important facts and events of European theatre historiy for achieving the ability to understand the progress of historical, cultural and aethetical development.
