Plagiate: Prüfungsleistungen und Prüfungszugänge, die durch das Verwenden unerlaubter Hilfsmittel oder durch absichtsvolles Plagiieren erlangt werden, werden laut Satzung der Universität Wien (§13, §74) nicht beurteilt, sondern im Sammelzeugnis untilgbar mit (X) bewertet. Dies ist auch nach bereits erfolgter Benotung rückwirkend möglich, wenn sich der Tatbestand des Plagiats erst im Nachhinein erweisen sollte. Als Plagiat gilt die absichtsvolle und undeklarierte Übernahme von fremdem geistigen Eigentum ohne Angabe der Quelle; der Begriff des Plagiats umfasst dabei wörtliche Zitate ebenso wie übersetzte Übernahmen und Paraphrasen.

Aims, contents and method of the course
Film is not just a visual, but an AUDIO-visual Media. Sound and Music are not always subordinated under the narration, and they are not "unheard". Music plays a significant role in the meaning making process of film and television as well as in its emotional effect in its audience.Film music research focuses on questions of meaning, affect and functions of music in films. As a relatively young (sub)discipline it combines film studies and musicology. Important research in this field has been conducted within the last decades.The course is focusing on the functions of music in film, its approach is rooted in film studies with significant knowledge in musicology and music history. (But no musicological analyses will be demanded or delivered)The course will give an overview about the history and theory of film music and the film musical.

Basic knowledge about musical terms and musical history are an advantage.
The written exam will consist of multiple more or less open questions. Criteria for grading are: knowledge about facts, about greater contexts, ability to use facts and theory of the lecture serie for individual argumentation.
