Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

writing media wants to focus on the complex relationship between media and language. How to these two realities relate to each other? What is the impact of media and the variety of medias on our perception and for instance on our language? How can we on the other hand describe and write what is going on in media? And what is the impact of language (writing and thinking), as we scientists use it, on medias and the world of media?

Assessment and permitted materials

presentation, protocol/notes, discussion, active participation, summaries, reading, paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goal of writing media is a more sensible and complex perception of the relation between media and language. We will try to upgrade our skills of writing and thinking methodologically / theoretically about media and to reflect both: media and language as two deeply interlinked worlds of expression.

Examination topics

We will write a lot, every one is invited to write (describe) his own media-object (thing / phenomenon) by reflecting media and language. By analyzing the texts of others and by working phenomenologically with media we will work on our linguistic skills, discussing them openly to make evident that a critical scientific community can be created.
