Aims, contents and method of the course
Melodramen können zu Tränen rühren. Melodramen drehen sich um Figuren, die sich ihre Sehnsüchte nicht erfüllen können. Und: Melodramen spielen sehr oft im Kreise der Familie, wohin sich gesellschaftliche Konflikte gern verlagern."Jedes Melodram erzählt eine Liebesgeschichte; das heißt, was sonst notwendiges Beiwerk ist, bildet hier das Zentrum. (...) Das Melodramatische ist schön traurig. Wie beispielsweise der Thriller uns die Lust über die Angst vermittelt, so das Melodram das Gefühl über das Leiden. (...) Man begreift die Aufregung aller Figuren im Melodrama: Der Regen fällt, eine Tür geht auf, die Heldin trägt das grüne Kleid, und all das kann kein Zufall sein." (Georg Seeßlen)An etlichen Beispielen - geplant sind Filme von Sirk, Ophüls, Fassbinder und Powell/Pressburger - sollen die melodramatische Schreibweise und das Genre des Filmmelodrams (Ästhetik, Geschichte, Ideologie) beleuchtet und analysiert werden.
