Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Acquire in-depth knowledge of the Viennese Theatre, including social and political history, and history of theatre performances. Develop abilities of independent study and research.
Developments and changes in ideology, cultural politics and organisation, with references (where applicable) to Theatre and Film History.
A mixture of input by the seminar leader and group discussions of the written papers produced by the student participants.

Assessment and permitted materials

Preparation and active participation in class discussions. Production of a short, individual, written research paper. There is a possibility of additional interviews outside of class time to discuss and evaluate student work.
