Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

How Will Theatres Obtain Money And Attention? The course offers insight into the political treatment of cultural infrastruktur. The approach choosen will focus on actors in this political play. The first part offers an introduction into theories of Cultural Policy and Cultural Eonomy. The Second part offers students the possibility to discuss precisely that kind of real problems which the alumni are going to encounter later when working within theateres. Students are asked to choose field cases from Austria and other countries, which will be discussed in the group.

Assessment and permitted materials

Before the first session: pre-lecture of choosen texts.
Active participation on discussions.
Reading of own paper to be discussed in small groups.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Combining theories and field research of Theatre Policy.

Examination topics

Introctionary lectgure: Parametra of Theater Policy within Democracies.
Seminary: Reading and discussing selected concepts.
Workshop: discussion of solutions students will bring up.
