Aims, contents and method of the course

The TV series The Queen's Gambit serves as an example to analyze current procedures of dramaturgy and storytelling. What is the status quo of archaic characters and structures? Archetypes appear as "heroic" heroines, mentors, threshold guardians, shape shifters and tricksters in TFM theories. However, at least since Critical Theory, we keep hearing that the bourgeois anima/animus/archetype subject no longer exists anyway. In recent years, moreover, the term post-heroism has become a buzz word. Do the heroes and their antagonists as well as the other archetypes of the heroic journeys disappear with them? Based on the archaic-platonic-psychoanalytic idea of the collective-archetypal, one must ask whether and how these basic manifestations of character traits or "characters" as figures change in the context of unleashed modern media production and reception.
