Aims, contents and method of the course

"Maske" und "Person" werden als Gegensätze markiert, sind jedoch als Struktureinheit zu denken, die im semantischen Feld von Maske/Larve/Prosopon/Persona einen begrenzten materiellen Gegenstand in Relation zum Gesicht, die figurale Entität von (nicht zwingend materieller) Maske und ihrem Träger und die Praxis des Variierens von Identität einschließt.
Europa um 1900 gilt als Brutstätte avantgardistischer Produktivität und multipler Revolutionen in den Künsten. Die beobachtbare Konjunktur des Phänomens und Begriffs Maske in Theater, Film, bildender Kunst und Theoriebildung dieses Zeitraums soll hinsichtlich von Gleichzeitigkeiten des Ungleichzeitigen, Individualisierungs- und Entindividualisierungsprozessen und Konstruktionen des 'Modernen' befragt werden.
