Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture starts with a short introduction in the theories about "utopies". Then I will give a survey about the classical renaissance-utopies (Bacon, Morus, campanella) and the technical and socialist utopies. The last third deals with "dystopies from Orwell to Houllebecq. The lecture will be interrupted by "seminar-oriented" discussion. Criterion for grading is participation and the written exam.
