Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims and Contents: Understanding of basic concepts of epistemology, esp. around epistemic relativism

Methods: conceptual Analysis, comparison of theories, lectures

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam (four questions of which two must be answered)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Summary of two basic positions or oroblems in epistemology

Standards of evaluation: clarity of presentation, adequate understanding, for high marks the student needs to demonstrate indepedent thought

Examination topics

Basic questions and themes of epistemology: theories of epistemic justification, scepticism, Gettier and attempts to answer him, internalism versus externalism, arguments for and against epistemic relativism

Reading list

A "Reader" with key texts will be ready by the begin of term.
