Central research questions in cognitive science - from early beginnings on until today - are discussed in relation to the paradigms introduced in the lecture "Basic Concepts of Cognitive Science - Foundations in Cognitive Science" (classical AI & symbolism, connectionism, dynamical systems, embodied & situated cognition):
" What is (human) intelligence?
" Are we born with a language-module?
" Does complex behaviour always demand a complex mechanism?
" Where are the boundaries of cognition?
" Will we soon be able to read minds?

Attentance of the lecture "Basic Concepts of Cognitive Science - Foundations in Cognitive Science" is therefore required.

Assessment: Answering questions on the basic literatur (provided), presentation in English (individual performance as well as group performance will be assessed), participation in discussions (compulsory attendance), portfolio work
