Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Who which person or which group should be leader of a good state and which are the qualities of such a leader. And: who leads the bad state and who should replace him or her? Or is there at least no king? Which arguments back the hierarchies and privileges normally connected with the elite-constellation? These are central questions in the history of political philosophy, sometimes open discussed, sometimes between the lines. Plato, Aristoteles, Thomas von Aquin, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Marx, Nietzsche and Foucault can be named as historical examples. In our course we will try to start a critical discussion of selected concepts.
