Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Plato's Theaetetus deals with the question "what is knowledge". Three answers are tried and invariably rejected: knowledge is perception, knowledge is true judgment, knowledge is true judgment with an account. The Theatetus is an extraordinary rich and open text. It is of central importance for those interested in epistemology but also for those interested in the socratic, aporetic, method of philosophy. In course of the seminar we will read and discuss closely the entire dialogue. A precise schedule will be given in the seminar's first session.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be made on the basis of homework, a class presentation, and two essays. Regular participation is required.
