180050 VO-L Philosophy of Immanence (2016W)

Baruch de Spinoza

5.00 ECTS (2.00 SWS), SPL 18 - Philosophie

In "What is Philosophy" Deleuze asks himself, whether it makes sense to interpret the entire history of Continental Philosophy from the perspective of the concept of immanence? For him, Spinoza is the "Prince of Philosophy", a kind of Christ in doing philosophy, because he has thought the principle of immanence without making any compromise with the concept of transcendence.
In this respect, the philosophies of Spinoza and Nietzsche resemble each other. They think the process of be-coming as a process of immanation (Agamben), that is, an emergent expression of Nature herself. But the concept of immanence is not just an ontology and metaphysical approach in which the body is perceived sub species aeternitatis, but also an ethical concept, longing for the cultivation of a new image of thought with feminine characteristics.
