Aims, contents and method of the course

Das Seminar vergleicht unterschiedliche Formen von Instrumentalismus in der Philosophie der Mathematik und der Wissenschaftstheorie. Die folgenden Themen werden in der Lehrveranstaltung behandelt: Formalismus und die Grundlagen der Mathematik; mathematischer Instrumentalismus; Instrumentalismus und Logischer Empirismus; Formalismus und Wissenschaftslogik.

Assessment and permitted materials

Voraussetzung für den Zeugniserwerb ist die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme an der Lehrveranstaltung (zwei unentschuldigte Fehlstunden sind möglich), die verpflichtende Übernahme eines Referats sowie das Verfassen einer schriftlichen Abschlussarbeit (im Ausmaß von ca. 15-20 Seiten, Umfang von ca. 25.000 bis 30.000 Zeichen in Times New Roman, Schriftgröße 12pt, Zeilenabstand 1,5). Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Mindestanforderung:
- Anwesenheitspflicht, Studierende dürfen zweimal unentschuldigt fehlen.
- Die Präsentation ist verpflichtend zu halten.
- Seminararbeit: Zur Sicherung der guten wissenschaftlichen Praxis kann die Lehrveranstaltungsleitung Studierende zu einem notenrelevanten Gespräch nach Abgabe der Seminararbeit einladen, welches positiv zu absolvieren ist.
Beurteilungsmaßstab:
- Präsentation: 30 Punkte
- Seminararbeit: 50 Punkte (vorgegebener/vereinbarter Abgabetermin ist einzuhalten)
- Beteiligung in den Diskussionsphasen (Konstruktive, fachlich richtige Beiträge und Engagement bei der Besprechung der Präsentationen): 20 Punkte
Für eine positive Beurteilung der Lehrveranstaltung sind 60 Punkte erforderlich.
1 (sehr gut) 100-90 Punkte
2 (gut) 89-81 Punkte
3 (befriedigend) 80-71 Punkte
4 (genügend) 70-60 Punkte
5 (nicht genügend) 59-0 Punkte
„Alle Studierende, die einen Lehrveranstaltungsplatz erhalten haben, sind zu beurteilen, sofern sie sich nicht zeitgerecht abgemeldet haben (Abs. 5) oder unverzüglich nach Wegfall des Hindernisses einen wichtigen Grund für die Nichtdurchführung der Abmeldung glaubhaft machen.“ (§ 10, Abs. 6 der Satzung).
