In the first part of this course I would like to question the significance of Death in Nietzsche's philosophy. Thereby I will strongly refer to Paul S. Loeb's book, The Death Of Nietzsche's Zarathustra (Cambridge 2010).
Afterward we will discuss Nietzsche's concept of a long minute in between, in which all (cosmic and personal) conditions return, out of which a body is and will be reborn over and over again.
The second part of the semester will be devoted to Nietzsche's doctrine of The Eternal Rebirth of The Same. Thereby I will strongly refer to Deleuze's interpretation of this doctrine in two of his works, Difference and Repetition and Nietzsche and Philosophy, on Pierre Klossowski's book Nietzsche and the Vicious Circle as well as on a recently published book of Krzysztof Michalski The Flame of Eternity.
