The connection between morality and agency has been a much discussed topic in the last years. This seminar focuses in particular on Christine M. Korsgaard’s Kantian account of agency. We are going to read and discuss Korsgaard’s book Self-Constitution. Agency, Identity, and Integrity, Oxford University Press 2009.
Prerequisites: Students are expected to be familiar with the basics of Kant’s ethical theory. STUDENTS TAKING THE SEMINAR ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE A COPY OF KORSGAARD’S BOOK Self-Constitution. Agency, Identity, and Integrity, Oxford: University Press 2009 (at the beginning of the seminar). The book is available in PAPERBACK.
