Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture tries to give an overview about political utopies and dystopies from the renaissance to our time. We will try to find out characteristic element of utopian thinking, the relation to political ideolgies ans to answer the question, if the utopian element is the general drive of political action or if utopies are just a category of political critique.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written examination via Internet at the end of the semester. Answer of a question in form of a structured essay.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Detailed knowledge about the most important utopies and dystopies. ood arguments in answering the raised questions.
Examination topics
Elementary Book: Richard Saage, Politische Utopien der Neuzeit. Literature which is posted on Moodle. During the lecture information about relevant topics for the test will be given.
