Aims, contents and method of the course

Where does individual responsibility begin and end? In what way are we responsible for each other? What possibilities for agency must be given in order to take responsibility? Is there a need for "visibility of responsibility" and what does this mean for a person's autonomy and ability to act? Ideas about all this often diverge widely. The lecture series takes up this diversity and illuminates these questions from different perspectives. The invited philosophers (Janina Loh, Angela Kallhoff, Marianne Hester, Sophie Loidolt, Lisa Herzog, Friederike Kuster, Christine Bratu, Anne Reichold, Beate Rössler, Ayten Gündoğdu) will reflect on what contribution the philosophical notions of responsibility, autonomy and agency as well as a complex understanding of gender can make in the face of current challenges: Corona pandemic, environmental disasters, refugee crises, violent clashes, women's experiences of violence, as well as hate speech and "fake news“, or disrespect based on stereotypical and racist attributions, when we think of #MeToo or #BlackLivesMatter.
Issues of socio-economic distributive justice and care remain virulent. Human dignity, equal freedom, and agency are at stake here.What insights are opened up when current challenges are made visible in light of this problem horizon?
Goals:
- A differentiated approach to gender-specific problems, taking into account current research debates.
- A theoretically grounded understanding of gender justice and how this interacts with the invisibility/visibility of current areas of social conflict
- Developing research questions, reconstructing and comparing different approaches
- Problem-oriented view and insight into the changeability of social relations
- Ability to think across topics and disciplines
- Recognition, description and development of interfaces between theoretical and practical ethics and the associated legal issues
- Sensitivity to the discovery of resources in legal/philosophical discourse and how these can be used for strategies of self-empowerment and ways of using responsibility/ies.

Assessment and permitted materials

Die schriftlich-digitale Prüfung ist ein Take Home Exame, die über Moodle im Open Book Format abgehalten wird. Sie findet in einem Zeitraum von mehreren Tagen statt.
Die Aufgabenstellung wird über Moodle zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Studierenden laden den Prüfungsbogen mit den Aufgaben auf den eigenen Computer, bearbeiten diesen und laden ihn bis zum Prüfungsende wieder hoch.
Die Prüfung setzt sich aus 18 in Form offener essayistischer Fragen zusammen, aus denen 6 Fragen ausgewählt werden. Zusätzlich zu den ausgewählten Fragen ist eine weitere Frage zu wählen. Diese verlangt die Ausarbeitung einer individuellen Schwerpunktsetzung in essayistischer Form zu zentralen Begriffen und Forschungszugängen der RVO unter Berücksichtigung der über Moodle bekanntgegebenen Forschungsliteratur inklusive der erlaubten Hilfsmittel im Umfang von 500 - 600 max. 700 Wörtern. Ein Leitfaden als Hilfestellung inklusive der verwendeten Hilfsmittel wird noch bekanntgegeben und auf Moodle gestellt.
Im Zuge der Beurteilung kann eine Plagiatssoftware (Turnitin in Moodle) zur Anwendung kommen.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Schriftlich-Digitale Beantwortung der ausgewählten Fragen, pro Frage 13 % (78 %)
Schriftlich-digitale Beantwortung einer Zusatzfrage zur Ausarbeitung einer individuellen Schwerpunktsetzung (22%)
Ab 60% ist die RVO positiv absolviert, die übrigen Noten ergeben sich durch 10%-Stufen.

Examination topics

Inhalte der Vorträge und der Diskussionen. Die Vorträge werden teilweise aufgezeichnet. Die Folien und weitere Unterlagen werden auf Moodle gestellt, ebenso relevante und weiterführende Literatur.
