Aims, contents and method of the course

This course introduces students to foundational questions meta ethics, with a particular focus on the intersection of meta ethics and moral psychology: Are there moral reasons that do not depend on our desires? What is moral motivation? Are our moral judgments driven by reason or by emotion? What can we learn from psychology about the nature of morality?

The format will be a mixture of lecture, discussion, and in class activities. There will be reading assignments for most sessions and students will be expected to have read the readings carefully in advance. Readings will be made available on Moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

There will be an in person written exam.

The exam will take place on Montag 30.01.2023 09:45 -11:15.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Passing the course requires achieving at least 50% of the maximum number of points on the exam.

Note 1 bei >= 90%
Note 2 bei >= 75%
Note 3 bei >= 60%
Note 4 bei >= 50%
