Aims, contents and method of the course

In the MEi:CogSci lecture series researchers from the core disciplines of cognitive science at the University of Vienna, Medical University of Vienna and other institutions introduce their research questions, topics, approaches and methods in short evening talks. Students should focus on interdisciplinarity and cognitive science aspects of their respective research.
Learning Outcomes:
- Familiarity with individual researchers' questions and approaches
- Insight into the field and scientific culture of the core disciplines of cognitive science
- Insight how a particular way to pose a scientific question is related to the methodology chosen

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment: Written exam. Time: 120 minutes.
You will have to answer four questions focusing on the topic of interdisciplinarity. It is a requirement that you refer to at least three different talks out of all the talks from the lecture series. Answer each question by making a concise argument and use interdisciplinarity terminology precisely. (Max. 500 words per question.)Provided literature and personal notes can be used. The automated plagiarism check software Turnitin will be used in this course.

* By registering for this course, you agree that the automated plagiarism check software Turnitin will check all written performances and/or exams submitted by you (in Moodle).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Being able to use key terminology in discourses about interdisciplinarity and critically reflect on the lectures in the form of a written exam.

Examination topics

During the lecture series students get to know different research questions, topics, approaches and methods of the core disciplines of cognitive science.
