Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

According to Freud’s experience, that psychoanalysis is understood best by following its origin and its development, the lecture tries to revive the most important stages of psychoanalytic history in theory and practice, beginning with Freud’s studies with Charcot in Paris by using various multi-media based documents and ending up by describing and explaining the most relevant post-freudian positions up to now. Particular interest is given to lacanian structural psychoanalysis because of its important incentives after 1945. Besides the clinical implications it opened up new perspectives on cultural and social phenomena as far as they are concerned with the question of unconscious meaning. In this respect Jean Paul Sartre’s question, if psychoanalysis of things could be possible, is always put in the foreground.

By numerous examples stemming from different cultural and artistic fields the structural relationships between clinical, theoretical and “applied” psychoanalysis should also be worked out.
