Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this seminar we do not approach the field of didactics by reading and discussing existing methods and models, but in a genuinely philosophical way. We will ask what didactic content, or even what didactic form classical texts of philosophy exhibit through themselves. Content and form are thought here as a unity, which must be worked out in the reading of texts, in order not to cover their ethical-philosophical content by the conventional overforming with always the same methods.
If one always applies the same methods to all different fields, then it should not be surprising if the content does more justice to the methods than to itself.
The aim of the course is to find out, on the basis of the two texts offered, what kind of mediation is inherently communicated in them and how this can then be meaningfully implemented in the classroom. The guiding question is therefore, how is what conveyed here?

Assessment and permitted materials

Over the course of the semester, 2 sessions will be used to carry out writing exercises on site. For this purpose, in the unit beforehand, it is discussed which questions could be dealt with in order to dedicate oneself to the topic of the seminar. These are then discussed and worked on together. The results of these two writing exercises constitute the preliminary examination requirements. A text from the writing exercise is to be elaborated at the end of the semester so that it results in a 6-8 page essay. This will be graded. Participation in the writing exercise or, in exceptional cases, completion of the writing exercise, as well as an essay graded at least 4, are required to pass. All common tools for writing a text according to good scientific standards are allowed.
