Einerseits reicht das traditionell rückwärts gewandte, sich auf Geist und Freiheit berufende Sein des Menschen kaum mehr aus, um das, was Kultur, unter gegenwärtigem Blickwinkel betrachtet ausmacht, zu bestimmen. Vielmehr scheint unter den Voraussetzungen der Philosophischen Anthropologie des 20. Jahrhunderts eine Rekonstruktion des Mensch-Seins aus seinen naturalen und ontogenetischen Bedingungen gefordert. So lautet die These von G. Dux.
Andererseits beruht der mit dem Geist gekoppelte Intellekt zwar auf biologisch-genetischen Entwicklungsvoraussetzungen, jedoch können diese nur unter den jeweils geschichtlich hervorgebrachten Bedingungen ontogenetisch vergesellschafteter, einander wechselseitig als intentional eigenständige Akteure erkennender Individuen auf das Kulturniveau der mit Denken gekoppelten, humanspezifischen Lebensform gebracht werden.
