Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Objectives: The research and interpretation of scientific literature is an essential practice of scientific work. This also applies to the production of seminar papers and bachelor's theses. In addition to the interpretation of literature in the introduction and theory section of academic papers, academic texts can be used and interpreted as data. This genre is also referred to as literature review. As usual in educational science, systematic, qualitative and quantitative methods are used to interpret the texts. This seminar teaches the interpretation of texts using quantitative methods known as distant reading.Contents: You will learn how to formulate precise database queries for researching literature, how to document the collection of data using the PRISMA scheme and how to interpret data using distant reading methods.Method: In the course, you will conduct research independently and in exchange with your colleagues and the lecturer: You will research literature on a topic of your own choice, document the research results, analyze the literature using quantitative methods and present the results in a short lecture.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be based on
