Aims, contents and method of the course

The introductory seminar provides an overview of theories and concepts of psychoanalytic pedagogy in connection with understanding child development processes and processing stressful life situations. It introduces the principles, guidelines and theoretical foundations of developmental psychology from a psychoanalytic pedagogical perspective. The introductory seminar offers students the opportunity to intensively engage with the theoretical basics and practical challenges and implications. In order to include a global perspective on the topic, different international contexts are expected to be covered in the introductory seminar.
Contents
The thematic focuses are dealt with in the seminar using scientific literature. The central content of the introductory seminar is:
- Theories and concepts on the development of children and young people, on questions of diagnostics from a psychoanalytic pedagogical perspective in the context of learning and performance difficulties. teaching methods
- Reading and discussing scientific literature
- Group work and reflections on texts, material, video excerpts, etc.
- Group work and reflections on your own perspectives and experiences
- Joint reflection and evaluation
- Reflection on individual learning processes

Assessment and permitted materials

- Active participation in group work and discussions during the seminar units
- Written tasks
- Group work
- Seminar paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements for positive completion are
- Participation in the seminar
- Active participation in tasks and discussions during the seminar units
- Submission of written tasks
- Short presentations of group work and discussions
- Writing a seminar paper
- Submission of a learning diary
The basis for grading is primarily the seminar work, written tasks and active participation during the seminar units. Part of the evaluation is an individual reflection on the seminar work and the learning diaries.
The language of instruction is German and English. Working material (e.g. scientific articles) is also in German and English. The seminar paper and written tasks can be written in German or English

Examination topics

The evaluation of the seminar is based on continuous grading and is based primarily on active participation during the seminar unit, written tasks and the seminar paper.
