Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

"A Nation at Risk": Thirty five years ago, this national report of the US government set in motion the development to what is called "evidence based" school development nowadays. The report combines two issues: "excellence" and "equity", and announces a whole new toolkit of school governance (such as standardization, testing, accountability etc.). The current educational policy in Austria is pretty much shaped by this development. We are going to ask in this course, how this development came about, what its impact has been and will be, and if it is not exactly this development, which puts nations at risk, i.e. undermines their social and political foundations.
