Aims, contents and method of the course

Content
The lecture gives an overview of the practical fields of media education, adult education and general education. For this purpose, typical activities will be presented and characterized. The characterizations will be reflected with scientific theories of the practice fields.

Goals
Students will be able to distinguish between the fields of practice of media education, adult education and general pedagogy and describe them on the basis of characteristics. They develop a first scientific understanding of pedagogical practice.

Contents
Theories of media pedagogy and their potential for reflecting on practice are presented.

Methods
The lecture will be held in a flipped classroom format. The lecture will focus on the discussion of practical examples and their descriptions with the help of the theories, which will be developed by reading texts on your own.

Assessment and permitted materials

Your Performance is measured through bonus points that can be earned throughout the semester and an online exam with single-choice questions. It is possible to achieve a very good mark through the online exam alone. You are invited to take the exam at the end of the winter semester, at the beginning of the summer semester, towards the middle of the summer semester or at the end of the summer semester. In addition, bonus points may be earned by completing assignments during the semester. The bonuses are distributed at the time of the exam, i.e. added to the result of the exam. Up to 40% of the maximum achievable points can be earned through the bonus points. A negative exam result can be compensated by bonus points.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

You must achieve more than 50% of the maximum achievable points to be able to complete the course positively. For better grades, 10 percentage points more are required in each case. From 80% and up to 140% (which are possible due to the bonus points) you will receive a very good mark.

Examination topics

The subject of the online examination and the tasks for the bonus points are the texts provided in the learning platform as well as the contents of the lectures.
