Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The major upheavals around 1989 (fall of the Iron Curtain) have generally given rise to the thesis of the globalization of the world, which, together with the emergence of an international comparative evaluation industry in the education sector (TIMMS, PISA), has also been applied to the education sector. The seminar will read relevant texts that make the globalization thesis understandable and comprehensible, and other texts that show justified skepticism, while critically discussing the question of whether we have not simply followed the sound of the bells and whistles, when talking about globalization, which has had a lasting influence on educational research.
Assessment and permitted materials
Mid-semester: mandatory, well-prepared reflective paper (abt. 2 pages) concerning the knowledge and questions from the class so far. This will account for 20% of the points that can be earned in the course (max. 4 points).
End-of-Semester: there will be a test with 4 open questions. In each of the questions you can score 4 points, so the maximum number is 16.
