Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
While helping students learn how to structure and prepare their bachelor theses, we will also develop ideas concerning how to interpret and work with discourse. Two ongoing projects in discourse analysis (1. power, nationalism/ideology in school materials and 2. the purpose of kindergarten in the discourse between the municipality and kindergartens) are used as a starting point from which we will discuss how discourses have been used historically and in documents and how we can track shifting discourses over time. The course content will include:- how to structure a bachelor thesis and write an abstract;- how to analyze, paraphrase, and review literature;- how to write about the historical context and developments of an idea as well as compare and contrast existing discourses in literature across time and contexts.
