Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar takes up the discussion of Kant's question about man; it discusses some important positions on it, but also asks on a meta-level what implications for the discipline on the one hand, for practice on the other hand, can arise from answering this question (or indeed that of the question itself).

Assessment and permitted materials

A major aspect of the certificate of achievement consists of writing a paper (about 40,000 characters incl. cover sheet & bibliography), which is dedicated to a self-selected question. The paper should be written in essay style and should primarily be a personal statement on the topics and questions of the seminar; however, it should still have a scientific character in its formulations and formalities (citations, etc.). It is therefore important that your own position is clearly visible in your work and that it is supported by good and comprehensible arguments. Ultimately, the quality of the arguments is decisive for the grade. It should also be clear (which is why only such questions are allowed) that an examination of the topics of the seminar has taken place (i.e. it is not possible to simply choose any question that only touches on these topics peripherally).
The seminar grade is composed of both the participation (30%) and the seminar paper (70%), which in turn can be recorded in three partial performances. 20% of this performance aspect results from the presentation and the discussion of the seminar paper topic, 30% is composed of the expose and 50% from the submitted paper.
