Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives:- Acquire and apply theoretical and practical knowledge of Ethnography & Organisational Research- Critically reflect and understand the meaning, possibilities & limitations of Ethnography & Organisational Research- Acquire practical skills in science Content: - Basic concepts & Significance of central qualitative-empirical methods: Recapitulation & Localisation of the course content- Organisational research in educational science (Organisational Pedagogy)- Basic knowledge of Ethnography - Specific knowledge of the selected approach & application of the method to the thematic focus: Ethnographic Organisational ResearchMethods: - Group work: discussions & exercises- Individual work: research - Portfolio: Combination of outcomes from individual and group work- Presentations: Presentation and discussion of the questions, methodological and methodological considerations as well as implementations and results

Assessment and permitted materials

Mode of assessment:- Written reflection (portfolio) on the contents and findings of the course.- Presentation in groups - Active participation (active contributions in the plenum and in the group) Permitted aids: - Texts and books provided by the course instructor- Other sources according to the scientific standards of the University of Vienna (physical and digital databases)- PowerPoint or other (digital) presentation media (to be discussed in advance with the course instructor)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The minimum requirement for a positive assessment is the writing of a portfolio according to the specifications of the course director and a presentation of the results in the form of a paper within the framework of the course.

Attendance is compulsory, absence is allowed for two 90-minute units (note: the units are blocked, so a maximum of one whole block can be missed).

Attendance at the first appointment is mandatory for a positive assessment. Each part of the work will be evaluated independently. The portfolio will be assessed 50% of the course, the presentation 30% and the active participation 20%.
