Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

National and international comparative education research identifies
often certain student groups as deviant. The main categories for
identifying such groups are e.g. gender, race (migration), language,
poverty, and the so called socioeconomic status. In this seminar we
will look at

How are these subgroups constructed?

Why and how is being in one of these categories said to be associated
with deviant achievement?

What do we know about the construct validity of such claims?
