Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In the course of its history, pedagogy scholarship has produced many answers that are still being passed on. However, one often does not understand them if one does not perceive the problems behind them. The lecture is therefore based on central questions of pedagogy and pursues the concept that educational science as a discipline is better understood when it is clear which questions and problems its considerations are based on. In the age of multiple crises, such as the climate crisis, species extinction, resource consumption, wars - it is time to review the old questions and answers, which of them are still viable for the new challenges. One thesis of the lecture is: Even if not all the answers given in the history of the discipline are still convincing today, the questions are often still of considerable relevance.

Examination topics
The examination relates to the texts that were dealt with in the lecture. The MC questions are not based on the lecture, but on the texts discussed. Nonetheless, the lecture directs attention to the problematic contexts in the texts, which will also be the subject of the examination.
Reading list
Basic texts of educational science are discussed. The procedure is less chronological than systematic. An introduction to central problem contexts follows Hannah Arendt's text on the crisis in education. Then discuss various problem areas based on the draft by Dietrich Benner and then deepen them with central texts by Hanna Arendt, Plato, Luther, Rousseau, the philanthropists, Schleiermacher, Dewey, Butler. The literature is made available via moodle.
