Aims, contents and method of the course

Transmission of knowledge, tradition, passing on ideas and education - educational science deals with a lot of different objects and subjects. From the viewpoint of general education this seminar focuses on the question what one can see in tradition, which function tradition has got in social and cultural dimensions and how it is performed.

attendance to the seminar; discussion; written statements; test at the end of semester

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This seminar aims at a deeper understanding of theories of general education. Additionally we will have a closer look on theories of tradition discussed in cultural studies.

serious reading; discussion (plenum and groups), short introductions, writing different sorts of statements, mind maps, graphs,...
