Voraussetzung für die erfolgreiche Teilnahme an diesem Seminar sind die gründliche Kenntnis sowohl der empirisch-quantitativen und der empirisch-qualitativen als auch der hermeneutischen Methoden sowie die Fähigkeit, diese in einschlägigen bildungswissenschaftlichen Bezugsfeldern anzuwenden.
Die Intention des Seminars ist es, von dieser bestehenden Grundlage ausgehend eine wissenschaftstheoretische Reflexion des genannten Methodenrepertoires durchzuführen. Dieses soll einerseits in seinen Differenzierungen erfasst und andererseits in seiner Bedeutung für das Aufgabenspektrum der Bildungswissenschaft diskutiert werden. Ein wesentlicher Aspekt dabei ist, inwiefern methodische Differenzierung zur formalen und inhaltlichen Gegenstandskonstitution des Fachs und zur disziplinären Identität beizutragen vermag. In einem weiteren Schritt sollen die Resultate dieser Diskussion - anhand einschlägiger wissenschafts- und metatheoretischer Texte - für die unterschiedlichen methodischen Zugänge dahingehend zusammengeführt werden, an einschlägigen bildungswissenschaftlichen Problemstellungen eine kritisch orientierte Perspektivität zu erarbeiten.

Prerequisite for successful participation in the seminar is fundamental knowledge of empirical research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, as well as hermeneutics. It is also required to bring the ability to apply these to relevant fields of reference in Educational Sciences.
On that basis the purpose of the seminar is to epistemologically reflect the methodical repertoire mentioned above. Its differentiations shall be grasped and its significance for the range of duties of Educational Sciences shall be discussed.
An essential aspect hereby is the following question: How can methodical differentiations contribute to the formal constitution and the constitution in content of the Sciences of Education and thus contribute to disciplinary identity.
Further the results of this analysis shall be brought together by means of relevant epistemological and meta-theoretical texts with a view to developing critical perspectivity referring to relevant problems in Educational Sciences.
