Aims, contents and method of the course

The course places an emphasis on universities and research in the sciences, which should be presented in a broader knowledge and innovation context. Topics of interest are: (1) GloCal (global and local) knowledge creation, diffusion and use - and the role of universities; (2) GloCal innovation and multi-level innovation systems - and the role of universities; (3) Government-University-Industry R&D partnerships; (4) transatlantic university-business research co-operations; (5) technology roadmapping; (6) technology transfer and commercialization (for example the open source movement); (7) academic entrepreneurship; (8) international science and technology policy; (9) re-discovering Schumpeter for the (GloCal) knowledge society and economy.
